HealthPoint uses innovation and teamwork to participate in the Health and Lifestyle Expo

As the COVID-19 pandemic continued to limit in-person events on campus, HealthPoint faced multiple challenges to participating in the annual Health and Lifestyle Expo sponsored by UT Recreational Sports (RecSports). The expo typically occurs every July during Annual Enrollment and features Human Resources Benefits representatives as well as health and wellness vendors.  `         

UTPD awarded Accreditation with Excellence

Assistant Vice President for Campus Security and Chief of Police David Carter recently announced the University of Texas at Austin Police Department (UTPD) was awarded Accreditation with Excellence on July 30 by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®). This is the second time UTPD has achieved Accreditation with Excellence, the highest honor the department can receive.

ITS reaches students through DUO how-to video

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Information Technology Services (ITS) implemented a plan to roll out DUO for multi-factor authentication to increase security. Their innovative approach featured a short video that has garnered more than 9,000 views since it’s launch, demonstrating that a little bit of video can go a long way in communicating complex topics.

FAS departments use innovation to produce orientation videos for new students

With COVID-19 (coronavirus) limiting events on campus, FAS departments demonstrated teamwork and innovation in reaching students and their parents during orientation this summer. Parking and Transportation Services (PTS),  UT Police Department (UTPD) with Campus Safety, and Information Technology Services (ITS) all transformed presentations that would have been delivered in person into videos.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) provides biological waste and chemical waste pick up services to UT Austin laboratories.  When lab closures due to the coronavirus were announced on March 23, 2020, the EHS hazardous materials team had to move quickly to remove waste for disposal from labs that were to be closed.

The spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) has changed lives across campus, including those of our youngest Longhorns. In response, the UT Child Development Center (UTCDC) came up with an innovative way to keep children connected to their friends and teachers by offering a nightly bedtime story via Facebook Live on the center’s private Facebook page. This is one of the many steps the program is taking to stay connected with children and their families while the UTCDC is temporarily closed.

In an effort to keep the university campus community apprised of the latest information on the operational status of Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) portfolio units, FAS Communications has created a COVID-19 (coronavirus) page. The page also provides links to any COVID-19 information and resources that individual units may offer. In addition, the page features a Twitter feed of related social media information and the most recent FAS COVID-19 communications. Current building access protocols are included as well.
