FAS departments use innovation to produce orientation videos for new students

With COVID-19 (coronavirus) limiting events on campus, FAS departments demonstrated teamwork and innovation in reaching students and their parents during orientation this summer. Parking and Transportation Services (PTS),  UT Police Department (UTPD) with Campus Safety, and Information Technology Services (ITS) all transformed presentations that would have been delivered in person into videos.

Student Accounts Receivable collaborates with other offices to aid students during COVID-19

As the university continues to deal with the effects of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Student Accounts Receivable (SAR) has increased efforts to help students during this time. Recent changes include allowing students to register for summer and fall 2020 semesters despite financial bars, reducing the interest of student loans initiated in spring 2020 to 0% and facilitating the process of CARES Act and Student Emergency Services payments going directly to students.

Texas One Stop: A campus collaboration for student success

Thanks in part to Student Accounts Receivable, the Texas One Stop website went live late last month. The website offers students easier access to information related to registration, financial aid, tuition billing, student records and more. Texas One Stop, which has been in development for over a year, is part of the Office of Enrollment Management and represents a significant collaboration among multiple offices along with faculty and students as contributors during the development process.

Service Desk prepares its student employees for the workplace

In January 2019, the IT Service Desk launched an innovative Student Career Development Program--a robust training program with four different job levels. Each job level offers a progressive focus on position mastery, internal processes, position leadership training, Student Employee Excellence Development (SEED) program and overall departmental training.
