Campus works together to provide new tools and guidance for ProCard Program

For two years, more than 40 stakeholders across 12 units worked together to draft new policies, procedures and guidance for the university’s Procurement Card (ProCard) Program. Through research, stakeholder engagement and focus groups, the ProCard project was able to galvanize a path forward for the popular purchasing program.

Twice a week, in the early morning hours while most of us are still sound asleep, the Electrical Distribution (ED) unit of Utilities and Energy Management performs a routine check of more than two thousand outdoor lights across the UT Austin campus. Beginning at 4:30 a.m., the two-person crew covers ground from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Dean Keeton Street, and from Guadalupe Street to IH-35.

This past April, 15 UT Austin Police Department (UTPD) employees were recognized during the Staff Service Awards for a combined 240 years of working at the UT Austin campus. Among them was Senior Administrative Associate Irene Benavides. The awards marked her twenty-fifth year at the department. Her husband Vivian Benavides IV shares her commitment to the university as a police officer with 28 years on campus.

Individuals from senior leaders to frontline staff, and from varied backgrounds and operations, brought their perspectives to developing the plan, which Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Darrell Bazzell described as “an aspirational framework with relevance to all members of our organization.”
