Teamwork Awards

The Teamwork Awards honor teams of employees who exemplify our Teamwork core value: We work collaboratively across our organizations on common objectives and develop efficient and cost-effective systems and processes for campus.

Technology Resources/Desktop Support Services

"IT security is complex and requires a holistic, systematic, and consistent approach to do well. The nominated team made securing the computers they support a top priority. To make it work required leadership with the resolve to make difficult choices . . . . Everybody in their IT Managed support organization benefits when their computer is more protected. By extension this effort also protects the data and processes that many business users across the FAS portfolio work with daily. This team collaborated with various university departments to design and implement an efficient process to cost-effectively provide secure support for the FAS computers that is recognized for its excellence."

Academic Blue Graduate Student Insurance Implementation

"The Academic Blue Implementation Team (ABIT) exemplifies the core value of teamwork through their effective collaboration efforts that involved five (5) distinct FAS units partnering together as one unified FAS team to meet the rigorous objectives requested of us by the Provost Office and the Graduate School. In order to address graduate student employee insurance gaps and identify cost savings that could be redirected toward other Graduate School priorities, the ABIT team identified an innovative option to leverage the student Academic Blue plan in a way never before used at UT Austin or within the UT System . . . . The ABIT team is deserving of recognition of the teamwork award for their truly impressive display of teamwork, innovation, and stewardship; bringing together employees from five (5) FAS units along with campus partners from Texas Global, the Provost Office, and the Graduate School."

Facilities Services Landscape & Integrated Building Services/Building Logistics & Keys/ Events & Moving Services

"On the day of commencement, as they do for all events throughout the fiscal year, those that work for Events & Moving Services (EMS) performed the task of making sure that all equipment was delivered on schedule and set up on time for each CSU. Having every table, chair, podium, a-frame, coat rack, and platform in place before other vendors arrive to deliver food, linens, decorations, and before entertainment staff or other arrive. Logistics is key when scheduling these events. Equipment used in a morning event may be needed for an afternoon or evening event, so EMS has to be able to schedule the deliver and pick up of equipment in a way to where they do not disturb the clients during their event. On the day of commencement 100% of all EMS staff arrived at the Facilities complex before 8 a.m. (Saturday 5/21) and did not finish their day until after 2 a.m. on Sunday 5/22."

Operations Working Group, Campus and Workspace Navigation Tiger Teams

"During the summer of 2020, as higher education institutions globally began figuring out how to continue to support students and research even as COVID was still unfolding, staff from all corners of FAS were charged with supporting efforts to prepare campus for the students in Fall 2020. FAS staff members spent 60% of their work time on planning and implementing. Campus Safety, Facilities Operations and Maintenance, and Environmental Health and Safety loaned staff. Together, these FAS employees became known as Tiger Teams (Building Evaluation, Signage, and Classroom) . . . . The Tiger Team initiative was charged with most of the physical aspects of re-opening the campus for the FY20/21 and FY21/22 School Years. These team members selflessly worked through the summer for UT Austin’s ability to continue to fulfill its academic mission. Spaces were made ready to for faculty, staff, and students to come to campus in a controlled and safe manner."

Mental Health Assistance Response Team (MHART) and the University Crisis Intervention Team (UCIT)

"Responding to mental health crises is a complex issue that intersects with many other issues and requires collaborative solutions. MHART and UCIT enable the university to take an approach to mental health emergencies that can reduce the overall sense of distress that people in crisis experience and build stronger sense of community, find viable solutions, and build trust as UTPD and mental health professionals work together for the safety and wellbeing of our community . . . . This team stands out because they are a team created by a team. Departments in this university often operate in silos, as we were facing a pandemic and a social justice crisis between police departments and BIPOC communities, UT departments and leadership took the time to collaborate to face and address these problems and even more importantly worked through barriers to create solutions. The members of MHART and UCIT teams report that trust and respect has grown as they have learned and worked together to serve some of the most vulnerable people in our community and all are more effective due to the collaboration."
